Hello I'm seeking additional input and interest in this idea. AFAIK, there are no existing projects of this type in the attic, active, or incubating.
At ApacheCON North America (october 2022), we heard from the CEO of Strangeworks, Whurley!. He presented the idea of an open source project that could benefit the emerging Quantum Computing industry. Of particular interest, he outlined, is the vendor-neutrality that is the hallmark of ASF. There are multiple public benefits to having the frameworks and algorithms exist outside of closed source proprietary systems. Further, quantum computing, as it advances, has a problem of being entirely driven by narrow commercial interests, and given the enormous resources required to design and create the hardware, risks becoming only accessible to a small portion of the global community. An Apache project in this space, one that is perhaps based on an existing framework, contributed and following our vendor neutral approach, would advance the agenda of a public benefit quantum computing concept.
