Hi! with my mentor hat on, I wanted to kick off this discussion thread on the basis of a general consensus in the MADlib community that it is time for the project to consider a TLP status: http://markmail.org/thread/mgjzwjjriqjrfsix
Apache MADlib entered incubation on Sept. 15, 2015. Since that time we have made 5 releases, added 3 committers and are actively pursuing other committers. We have extensive user documentation, an up-to-date wiki and an informative web page. We are a very helpful and engaged community, ready to answer all questions and feedback via the dev and user mailing lists. We have learned much about the Apache Way as a result of being an incubating project, and have incorporated the guidance that we have been given by our mentors and others. As part of that learning process we've learned a great deal about ASF's approach to IP and have resolved MADlib licensing concerns stemming from its BSD licensed past LEGAL-293. While we plan to continue to develop as a community, we do not feel that remaining as an incubating project is a prerequisite for this development.
