The Apache HAWQ (incubating) Project Team is proud to announce
the release of Apache HAWQ 2.1.0.0-incubating.

This is a source code only release.

ABOUT HAWQ
Apache HAWQ (incubating) combines exceptional MPP-based analytics
performance, robust ANSI SQL compliance, Hadoop ecosystem integration
and manageability, and flexible data-store format support, all
natively in Hadoop, no connectors required.

Built from a decade’s worth of massively parallel processing (MPP)
expertise developed through the creation of open source Greenplum®
Database and PostgreSQL, HAWQ enables you to
swiftly and interactively query Hadoop data, natively via HDFS.

FEATURES AND ENHANCEMENTS INCLUDED IN THIS RELEASE
- HAWQ Register enhancements and support for partition tables -
The HAWQ Register command registers and loads data files into
HAWQ internal tables using table metadata defined in a YAML
configuration file. HAWQ register now supports loading and
  registering 1-level partition tables.

- GPORCA upgrade - Many new features and bug fixes in the modular
query optimizer are integrated with HAWQ.

- ORC file format support is provided by a new PXF profile
exposed in the PXF Hive plug-in, named HiveORC. The HiveORC
profile supports access to data stored in ORC format through a
  Hive mapped table.

- PXF predicate pushdown and column projection availability -
HAWQ now makes available to the PXF service both the
predicate (filter string) and the column projection
information. With this feature, PXF plug-in developers can
implement predicate pushdown for their custom plug-ins.

- PXF now allows HCatalog/External Table queries to dynamically
select the most optimal profile for query execution based on
the underlying Hive file storage type.

- Ongoing ground work for Apache Ranger integration

- Fixes and enhancements on HAWQ Resource Manager, Interconnect,
Query Execution, Dispatcher, Catalog, libhdfs3 and more.

DISCLAIMER

Apache HAWQ (incubating) is an effort undergoing incubation at the Apache
Software Foundation (ASF), sponsored by the Apache Incubator PMC.

Incubation is required of all newly accepted projects until a further
review indicates that the infrastructure, communications, and decision
making process have stabilized in a manner consistent with other
successful ASF projects.

While incubation status is not necessarily a reflection of the
completeness or stability of the code, it does indicate that the
project has yet to be fully endorsed by the ASF.
