Thanks @Bertrand @Markus @Richard @Luke and @Edward
This is the most awkward time in the project life cycle. We feel dizzy because "Lost in Translation" ;-) The source of the project name is about the common pain of our team members in earlier days. So short the development iteration period , we don't have enough time always. One day one of our initial team member Jin-Jiang Zhao recited a sentence unintentionally "the boss give us few weeks, so we give him Weex" . All of us like the name (non of us familiar with German at that time , pitiful ), so we named the project Weex. After that, this name have accompanied us for two years. For lots of team members, the project name is the highest number of daily repetitions English word in a long time. Change project's name is not a easy decision for us as Longda's previous reply mentioned. But as prepared Apache way learner and humble international community member, we know the value of respect other culture. We don't want native German speaker feel embarrassed or offend when they start learning the project or working depend on the project. So, We are keeping open minded on the name issue after multi times difficult discussion this day. At the same time we need to do some evaluation about the burden size and risk of rename. We need a few days for the evaluation, but welcome everybody give us suggestion or reply your opinion, Thanks & Vielen Dank. @Markus In your reply ,your have written “Given that Weex is pronounced with a long 'i', it could lead to some fun situations.” Can you tell us more about the situation ? Is it the same thing like short ‘I’ pronunciation sounded NSFW ?
