IANAL but my reading of [4] is that the only requirement beyond a
typical MIT-style license is including the "This product includes
software developed by the MX4J project (http://mx4j.sourceforge.net)"
statement when redistributing.

So I think you're ok if you add that statement to your NOTICE file (as
it's required), add the mx4j license to your LICENSE file and do not
add the Apache license header to the relevant source code files that
your are redistributing.
