My position on this sort of thing has shifted a whole lot over the last few years. I used to be very careful about offending bots but after dealing hundreds of these accounts on MapR user facing sites, I am way less sympathetic.
Kudos for humanity but I recommend not losing much sleep here. It is very likely this isn't somebody who is going to help.
