The rough plan is to develop an API spec which offers both client & server functions and then an implementation to match, for each of the versions. There's been some interest in creating extras which use Amber to perform specific types of integration, but I'm not sure if the preference is for that to occur inside Amber or in the related project(s) - I guess we'd vote once the project was up & running.
