Diversity is of course a relative word in ASF-land. There has been suggestions
of 3 independent employers, and not a majority from a single employer and so
on.
I have tried to verify this, and although not doing anything exhaustive, or
even anything close to an authorative check, I think diversity is beyond the
minimal criteria. However, the most enthusiastic PPMC members want to broaden
this further, and I suspect this is part of the "need more diversity" in the
reports. And we all know that attracting (users becoming) developers for
incubating projects ain't the easiest thing on the planet...

As Matthieu mentioned, the PPMC was effectively the committers discussing all
action items on the dev@ list, which is good. The formalization of the PPMC
never became a high priority, hence the long absence of a private@ list with
anything on it.
The fact that there has been no major conflicts is both, I guess, good and
bad. Good in that it shows a healthy community, Bad as the PPMC never get a
chance to show how to handle conflicts. I think this common around ASF, and
the Chair only need to 'raise the flag' to the membership/board and people
will try to assist if it gets to that.
I have also indicated that I will follow this project as
post-graduation-Mentor, keep an eye out for problems or issues arising in the
year ahead, but without a formal seat on the PPMC, since I don't follow the
technology itself...

I have the full confidence that Matthieu is the right person, who has the
passion for the project and the respect of his peers, to head the community.

Cheers
Niclas
