i've been analysing the current policy document: cross referencing and drawing up policy-neutral rationalisations in JIRA (planning to use a single VOTE thread for all these changes since require prior PMC approval is required before commit).
i've run into a problem. http://incubator.apache.org/incubation/Roles_and_Responsibilities.html#Championis not consistent with http://incubator.apache.org/incubation/Incubation_Policy.html#Champion. roles states champions can be officers or members whereas policy implies only members. so, i can't consolidate in a policy-neutral fashion. i've create two alternative patches in JIRA ( https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INCUBATOR-33 and https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INCUBATOR-34). i plan to put both to a VOTE to let the PMC clarify their intent but thought it best to allow people to jump in and start a discussion thread first. anyone have strong opinions as to whether Champions should be only members? - robert
