> First, what is the goal of the Ode project? My preference would be on building, striclty speaking, a BPEL engine. The whole BPM space is cluttered with different paradigms (classic workflow, orchestration, document-style workflow...) and specs. BPEL seems to be getting accepted as THE standard for orchestration, so let's focus on it.
I actually liked Paul's idea of building a standard BPEL test set a lot. This could be used by everybody as an entry point for building a "reference" BPEL implementation. > - Do we want to support BPEL 2.0, BPEL 1.1, or both? I would say BPEL 2.0 in priority. Supporting BPEL 1.1 as well would be fine but I wouldn't make it a priority. Developing software takes time, so we have to think ahead. > - Do we want to be independent from any specific ESB? Yep. > - Do we want to be independent from any specific J2EE application server? If complete independance can be achieved, yes. If it can't, then we should support the most popular app servers (Geronimo being number 1). > - Do we want to rely on JBI and how does it impact the previous goal? Relying, certainly not. A user who just want to do orchestration should be able to do so without JBI. However we should be "friends" and integrate nicely with each other. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
