But I could not find it in the cvs repository. The only cvs repository that I am aware of is /home/cvs and I would really appreciate more information.
What is the exact path of the repository needed for CVS's login ? What is the path for the file "index.html" for checkout?

Hmm, an account on cvs.apache.org (aka minotaur) as well as karma for the pluto repository should be sufficient.
To update the site have a look at cvs.apache.org:/x1/www/jakarta.apache.org/pluto It's a simple CVS checkout and you'll only have to cvs up it to get any commits online.
