To add some perspective:
I think of this in terms of: what purpose does the Attic serve?
It should be there to keep all of our unmaintained projects in a form that
keeps their history, and makes it easy for 1) existing users to see the status,
and 2) for any future developers who might choose to revive the code (either at
the ASF, or by forking elsewhere).
So while we need to keep history, we also don't need to blindly leave the bits
and bytes untouched. I'd love to see us accepting patches like Niall suggests
here (and has already built!) so that any Attic sites not only are easier to
monitor from a policy perspective, but also are made to look decent, even in
the face of CSP or other changes.
As long as we include a note somewhere in the source trees for the site about
the status of any work done, I say (presuming the Attic PMC doesn't object)
that interested volunteers could even go and replace convenience things like
CSS or simple JS references with local ones, to ensure attic'd websites still
display reasonably well. But that seems like a general@attic discussion.
