I got and compiled the cairo_place_lines version of gaf, then loaded a large schematic with notes here and there, displaying across two screens with xinerama mode of xorg.
debian packages installed: ============= ii xserver-xorg 1:7.1.0-11 the X.Org X server ii xserver-xorg-core 2:1.1.1-15 X.Org X server -- core server ii xserver-xorg-video-mga 1:1.4.1.dfsg.1-4 X.Org X server -- MGA display driver I was able to navigate into and out of subschematics and symbols. When I did a middle mouse drag, it seemed about the same as I was used to before. I'm sure it was the new compilation running -- I erased the old first, and saw that I needed a sudo ldconfig before gschem could find libgeda.
