Folks,

Geoinformatica(1) is a stack of free software, which builds on GDAL, Perl, and GTK+. I've just made a new win32 binary release of the stack(2), which contains the latest GDAL from trunk. It also contains the Perl bindings (Geo::GDAL module), a set of modules built on top of that, and a set of Perl modules built on top of Perl bindings for GTK+ that can be used to develop graphical geospatial programs for the desktop.

Geoinformatica is somewhat experimental OSGeo labs software whose proof-of-concept desktop application is useful but not a comprehensive GIS. This Windows release is aimed at being a simple to install and easy to use platform for exploiting the power of GEOS, GDAL, Perl and other free software. The windows installer is basically a file copy. The resulting directory is self-contained and can be used to install the platform even as a standard user on any Windows machine.

GDAL and other libraries in Geoinformatica are compiled with MinGW.

Best regards,

Ari
