I'm not sure why this is not working, and I'm having a little trouble getting a satisfactory answer on the web.

$ gdalinfo lewis_dem30.e00
ERROR 4: `lewis_dem30.e00' not recognised as a supported file format.

Any hints? What kind of file is this, really? I'm trying to ingest it using r.in.gdal from within GRASS. I'm really trying to get a state- wide dem. Is there a better source?

Thanks,
Jeff.
