I've thought of this but have shied away from it because of the
overhead of installing postgis etc. just to get started. Time to get
over my shyness perhaps :)
Often there's a certain tradeoff between time spent to do things right
from the start, and time spent to fix things later or do them the hard
way, because you're stuck in some inflexible toolchain... :-)
