Hi,
I'm a bit off-topic, but is this new driver the  jpip driver described in 
RFC_24 (http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/wiki/rfc24_progressive_data_support)? If so, 
that's great news, does it use Kakadu for its implementation ?

Norman,

In my opinion it is getting pretty hard to build OpenEV from source and
it's OpenGL tile based approach may not be very ammendable to the progressive
support you want to test.  I'd suggest qgis (http://www.qgis.org).
