This is not a good list to ask this question as if clang claims to 4.2.1 compatible and is not then it is a bug in clang and you should report your findings to them rather to GCC. The aligned attribute has been in GCC since at least 3.0. Also if you need help with GCC's behavior, the list you want to use instead of the gcc@ list is the gcc-help@ list.
