Thanks for reporting this, Jonathan. We are using a tool called texinfo (makeinfo) to generate those pages on gcc.gnu.org, using the default settings there, so let me redirect this to the texinfo mailing list. (I just realized that gcc.gnu.org still uses texinfo 4.8, so if later versions have this changed, I could ask the admins to upgrade.) Gerald
