Trunk in in Stage 3, so only bug fixes, documentation changes and new
ports are generally allowed, subject to the discretion of individual
maintainers. I discussed the nature of that discretion and how some
maintainers need to be more conservative than others in
<http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2008-09/msg00433.html>.

The old register allocator will be removed on or shortly after 25
September and targets that have not been updated will be broken at
that point and added to the deprecation list for 4.4 if people are not
already in the process of updating them.

The following ports have people working on their conversion to IRA and
this will hopefully be concluded soon with the help of the IRA
developers:

m68k
mips

The following ports are unconverted and I don't recall seeing people
saying they were working on IRA ports, although I may have missed such
statements:

arc
cris
frv
m32c
m68hc11
mmix
pdp11
score
vax

The assumulation of regression PRs is likely to reflect increased
testing of trunk. Some of the bugs may well be different failures
with the same underlying cause; it is useful to keep testing to see if
a reported regression has been fixed by the patch for another
regression.
