gcc-get enabling-only subscription?

With my current email setup and the volume of the gcc mailing list,
it is not desirable to be to be subscribed to the gcc mailing list,
I rather read the web archives.
However, this does not allow to make a properly threaded reply.  I've
tried to use gcc-get email interface, but apparently it will only send
to subscribers.
Is there a way to subscribe only for the purpose of being able to receive
messages with the gcc-get mechanism, without getting regular list emails?
