I do have a crude patch to ELFify the assembly parts. However,
upstream told me that it wouldn't be accepted since it would break
older setups and that M4 magic should be used to sort out the %
story...

I was able to canadian-build a target=host vax-linux-uclibc compiler with
that (plus linux-specific patches) using a i686-linux-gnu build
machine.
