I believe you that there are improvements to be had, and I'd like to see
them in GCC.  And I want to clearly state that I believe compile-time
fixes are appropriate for stage 3.

Perhaps the confusion was whether Steven was asking if he's facing a
priori rejection, or if he's asking for a priori approval.  Those are two
entirely different requests.
