Sadly, you didn't quote any language in the standard to justify such a statement. If you expect anyone to take you seriously you'll have to do that. For what it's worth, I don't believe that's what the ISO C standard says. In any case, this discussion is pointless: we are moving towards tracking the proposed memory model, which solves the problem. Andrew.
