I think I have found an acceptable solution for this issue. Here is more info: http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2005-06/msg01338.html I would be especially grateful for people testing this on primary hosts that are not linux. In particular, AIX and Solaris. -benjamin
