I took the lack of answer for this patch as an indication that the patch is too big. This is the first patch in a series of three. Its purpose is to create some new effective target for architecture having byte swap instructions and make use of them in the existing byte swap tests. One effective target is created for each size (16, 32 and 64) as not all architectures support byte swap of all sizes.
Here is the gcc/testsuite/ChangeLog entry: 2014-04-01 Thomas Preud'homme <thomas.preudho...@arm.com> * lib/target-supports.exp: New effective targets for architectures capable of performing byte swap. * gcc.dg/optimize-bswapdi-1.c: Convert to new bswap target. * gcc.dg/optimize-bswapdi-2.c: Likewise. * gcc.dg/optimize-bswapsi-1.c: Likewise. The patch is attached to this email. Is this ok for stage1? Best regards, Thomas
