I wonder why your mailer used a different MIME type here.
In any case, while text/… is shown inline with most mailers - or
displayed as text, 'application/' isn't - which makes it less
convenient to review.

The patch itself is fine (LGTM), possibly except for the
subject line issue mentioned in 2/4 of the series.
