This looks reasonable, so OK for the trunk but how did that slip through in the first place?

I guess I missed it when I first ran the testsuite before sending the patch for review. I rebased and re-ran the testsuite after getting approved and saw the regression. But at that point I realised Jeff had already merged it.
Anyway, I'll regtest more carefully next time!
