this is really strange: although I regularly use gmake 4.1 since
September last year, just this weekend I did several mainline bootstraps
on i386-pc-solaris2.10 for a reghunt in libjava. Using gmake 3.81
worked just fine for me. The Solaris symbol versioning support has been
in libjava (and elsewhere) for quite some time, completely unchanged
since it was introduced.
