gcc-4.0-20041128 (tarball snapshot) glibc-20041204 (from CVS) binutils-2.15 i applied the following patch to at least temporarily work around the problem: http://www.kegel.com/crosstool/crosstool-0.28-rc37/patches/glibc-2.3.2/glibc-2.3.2-allow-gcc-3.5-PR14096.patch -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=15398
