Lack of reviewer bandwidth is part of the issue here I think. The other part is
GCC was in stage 3 (now stage 4 as of today) which meant bug fixes only. I am
not sure if this counted as a bug fix so I don't know what is in the minds of
the C++ front-end reviewers/maintainers minds here.
The other issue is you sent it a few days before Christmas which is a slow time
for reviewing and folks are out on vacation and such.

It depends. The best thing in this case is to ping the patch again.
See the last section in https://gcc.gnu.org/contribute.html#patches .

> Also, can anyone assign this bug to me please?
I don't think it matters as it is more of a hint to others that you are working
on it and they should ping you and since you already posted a patch and that is
listed here folks should ping you anyways about it. but I will do that.
