It is not a strong requirement, if one doesn't do anything that results in
these linker warnings, then older binutils are fine.  And even when does
something that triggers those, one can always compile/link with -gdwarf-4 or
-gdwarf-3 etc.
So if we document something, it should be a recommendation not a requirement
and say possible workarounds.
This will happen again when we switch to DWARF 6 in a year or three.
