If I comment out the assert(), gcc_assert (sym->attr.referenced || sym->attr.flavor == FL_PROCEDURE || sym->attr.use_assoc || sym->attr.used_in_submodule || sym->ns->proc_name->attr.if_source == IFSRC_IFBODY || (sym->module && sym->attr.if_source != IFSRC_DECL && sym->backend_decl)); the code compiles.
