Furthermore, the -On level can be different between different functions within the TU, so it makes sense to specify some alignment for the non-size optimized functions and let the implementation do its best for size optimized ones. It isn't unlike that -O0 ignores most of the user specified -fwhatever-optimization explicit options (or -Og).
