Tried gcc-5.1.0 and gcc-5.3.0 with software where bug was initially detected
with workaround reverted.
Results:
- SIGSEGV with gcc-4.9.3 as earlier
- no failures with gcc-5.1.0 and gcc-5.3.0
So I'm closing this big as fixed
