This point is still open, but can be tracked e.g. in PR 37222.

This has been implemented in r205873.

I think all of these remarks have been fixed by now (or at least sorted into
PRs).
All in all, I think this PR is ripe to get closed after more than five years
with (almost) everything fixed.
