This explanation would be clearer if you used the option -lineno (or -all) when dumping. Ideally, the warning should be given in "return f". Perhaps there is a way to adjust the locations? I guess that for: 4 typedef _Complex float C; 5 C foo() 6 { 7 C f; 8 __imag__ f = 0; /* { dg-warning "is used" "unconditional" } */ __real__ f = 0; 9 return f; 10 } there is no warning, no?
