Contacting your distributor is indeed the only way of getting the fix in your distribution (don't know what their policy is). Since you say the problem does not appear with 4.6.3, I guess we can close the bug report here. By the way, when you say the problem doesn't exist with 4.6.3, did you give it the original program or the preprocessed sources?
