Actually my question was born more naive, simply about replacing after so many years 'restrict' with with either '__restrict' or '__restrict__', that is something with real semantics. I understand we believe that should not be an issue, also, I gather, together with libc != glibc, thus let's just use __restrict, barring further comments.
