_My_ reasons to test it for the "gcc group" was that "--enable-threads=solaris"
_was_ a legal configuration option and so I tested it and made a BR. My reasons
were set out in comments 2 and 4, I have nothing to add.

Thanks for fixing the DOCs, can we pull the code too (or ifdef it out for
OpenSolaris) to avoid having code in gcc that is no longer supported.
