It is (was) great fun to have to build (at least we used to, "have to") gcc with both GNU's ld and Sun's to ensure there is (was) no breakage. Recently I was able to use only GNU's ld (except when trying to build _some_ of Sun's Source), which cut down on ifdef'ing (uglifying) patches.
