I would say one should: The fix is extremely simple and having TRANSPOSE is not uncommon in Fortran. (Having TRANSPOSE(<scalar> <operator> <array>) is less common, though.) -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=41278
