I attach a patch implementing this change on svn HEAD. It doesn't break any tests here, but I am fairly sure I've done the wrong thing to the linker script (gnu.ver); I don't really understand the linker script, so it was rather monkey-see-monkey-do. -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=41622
