I'm trying to build the glib-java bindings using gcc-4.4.1. configure dies
with:

configure:20793: gcj -C  Test.java
Test.java:1: error: The type java.lang.Object cannot be resolved. It is
indirect
ly referenced from required .class files
        /* #line 20788 "configure" */
        ^
Test.java:2: error: Implicit super constructor Object() is undefined for
default
 constructor. Must define an explicit constructor
        public class Test {
                     ^^^^
2 problems (2 errors)
configure:20796: $? = 1
configure:20800: error: The Java compiler gcj -C failed (see config.log, check
t
he CLASSPATH?)

Test.java is:

/* #line 20788 "configure" */
public class Test {
}

Just to be sure that I haven't corrupted my gcc install, I rebuilt today, and
get the same result.
I build gcc with the default CFLAGS and with:

export BUILD_LANGUAGES="c,c++,fortran,java,objc"

and with

--host=i686-pc-linux-gnu --prefix=/usr --with-gnu-as --enable-shared
--with-gnu-ld --enable-threads=posix --with-ecj-jar=/usr/share/java/ecj.jar
--enable-languages=$BUILD_LANGUAGES"

ecj.jar is what the script in contrib gets.

The build finished without any problems.
