just checked; powerpc-apple-darwin9 [at 151880] this also fails.
looking through the error log there do seem to be a large number of garbage
strings in the informational messages; 
e.g. ../../../gcc-4-5-regtest/libgcc/../gcc/unwind-dw2-fde.h: In function
‘last_fde’:
if that's of any relevance.
