well.. the bootstrap *was* fixed (at least on darwin9) - effectively by disabling the compare-debug function. so a successful bootstrap does not indicate that the object compares were carried out - hence the two lines I indicated in comment #8 "THIS ONE>>>" > I'll try x86_64-apple-darwin9 and i686-apple-darwin10 tonight. great! .. thanks. -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=41245
