To be fully honest, when Ed proposed these bits of C++0x, I wasn't particularly excited: ok, can be actually handy but really, we don't expect surprises either, no hurry to field test the feature... So, I saw the inlines, the patch was simple, and forgot about the extern template. That's the story from my point of view, anyway ;)
