I don't think this is a duplicate: even if the bootstrap compiler is gcc, it
may still lack visibility support (as it did on Solaris until recently or on
IRIX where ld/rld lack the necessary support). At least, this requirement
should
be documented separately, and maybe it can be avoided. I'm not certain this is
significant, though, since the plugin is only used with gold, which may not be
available on affected platforms.
