This problem looks like a dupe of PR35964 and PR39076. If so then it's probably fixed in current 4.3 branch, and Debian used to backport the fix to their 4.3 compilers which may be why it appears fixed on Ubuntu. -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=35079
