Confirmed.  This looks like a target issue to me, for bad we produce

testPtrBad:
        pushl   %ebp
        movl    %esp, %ebp
        movl    8(%ebp), %eax
        addl    $127, %eax
        subl    12(%ebp), %eax
        popl    %ebp
        sarl    %eax
        imull   $954437177, %eax, %eax
        ret
